Optically Active Polyurethane/Silica Aerogel Coated Cotton Fabrics for Thermal Protection

Application of SiO 2 aerogel in thermal protective clothing has been limited due to its brittle nature, ordinary mechanical properties, and poor film forming performance. This work is aimed develop cotton fabrics by coating blended OPU/SiO with enhanced properties protection The composites different ratio were applied onto knife-coating. morphology, chemical component, crystalline structure, stability compression strength characterized scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transfer Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TG) test, respectively. Besides, the warmth retention performance heat together air moisture permeability coated studied. results showed that successfully better capacity. coefficient was distinctly dropped synergistic effect OPU aerogel, which resulted higher retention. exhibited obvious insulation surface temperate almost 4°C than uncoated fabrics. demonstrates a new strategy fabricating stronger insulating textiles using composites.
